Please tell us more about yourself, your career history and current involvement in Viagoo’s business.

I graduated with an Electrical Engineering Degree from NTU in 1994 and started my career in the simulator industries in ST Engineering. Back then, I was involved in the software development and project management of both Air and Land based simulators. Fast forward to 2004, I decided on a career switch and was working as a Senior Manager in Fuji Xerox Singapore taking care of the Production Systems Business Group. During that 12 years in Fuji Xerox, I was managing a group to software engineers, the showroom team and business development team. With the knowledge I gained in the document management space, I joined Viagoo in 2017. It was during this period that we developed the FNG.IO solution for Operations Management for the Logistic space. 

(Being seen as) “Project Management & Business operation personnel with an eagle-eye in precision.”  Could you share with us on your practice & beliefs in business operation as a management personnel overseeing projects from start till the end (liaising with internal to external customers). 

Any project manager will know that while all customers want fast, good and cheap solutions. The reality is it can only achieve 2 of the 3 in most cases. Hence the success in delivering any project is to understand what are the 2 most important factors for the customer. Coupled with close communications with the customers and ensuring high level of competency in the project team, to complete the project on time and on budget is within reach. 

 

And what is your strategy in customer retention amongst competition from others? 

It is a known fact that the cost of acquiring a new customer is 5-25 times the cost of retaining an existing customer. Our strategy in keeping our customers loyal to us is to put that extra dollars saved into developing new features and functions in our Viagoo and Viamove solutions based on what we hear from our customers.  This not only differentiate us from our competitions but also act as a living proof that we are actively listening and responding to their feedback

 

What are your thoughts on the direction of cooperate businesses in near future?

During this Covid-19 pandemic, many industries have turned for the worst. On the other hand, the demand in healthcare, logistic and ecommerce space have grown. Viagoo’s inception of the Viamove service during this pandemic could not been a better time. Not only have we seen the volume of transactions growing steadily, the number of customers and freelance delivery personnel has also grown in tandem.
